Xinmi 36-class Primary School

Located in Xinmi County of Zhengzhou city is the 36 Classes Primary School campus on a plot close to 7 acres in size. The plot is initially divided into 3 zones that are namely teaching, sports and landscape. The design in essence attempts to nurture and enhance the well being of the users physically and mentally. 

The teaching zone includes 3 blocks of teaching building, a laboratory building and an administration building. In order to enhance the teaching and learning experience for teachers and students, the essential spaces such as classrooms, arts and music rooms, seminar halls are clustered close to each other while the administration block includes cohesive spaces like staff rooms, conference halls and a medical room. Sports zone includes an outdoor sports field and an indoor stadium that serves for the physical well-being of the students with functions ranging from an indoor basketball court to an outdoor football court. 

As for the students’ mental well-being, the landscape design has been given a lot of emphasis by creating pocket spaces for them to interact or to simply relax by walking around the campus surrounded by greenery. The focal point of the landscape is the large courtyard along the main entrance in which it can be used as an outdoor event space. In addition, smaller courtyards are also designed within the teaching blocks that features a water body, wooden bench and walkways.
